Download stops and have to start/resume every time #171

I am downloading a relatively large file (1+ GB) from MediaFire and the download stops so many times and I have to click on start/resume repeatedly. It's annoying and frustrating to say the least. All settings of HTTP Downloader are default. I am using the latest release Version 1.0.4.3 (64-bit) portable.

The only time this does not happen is when I set "Default download parts" to 1. But if I do this, my download will be utterly slow. Download acceleration is the main reason why I use tools like this. Is it just a bug in this version and should I use an older version instead?

Anyway, I managed to finish the download but there's another problem: it doesn't save the file---can't find/see it in the default download directory/folder (I didn't make any changes to this setting). Also, why is this greyed out... ksnip_20210616-123104

PS: Before with IDM, I don't get this issue at all.

I tested a large download from MediaFire and it didn't stop/restart on me. I split it into 10 parts. How stable is your Internet connection?

The default settings will attempt to restart an incomplete download at least twice before giving up. You can set it to 100 in the Connection options. It's listed as "Retry incomplete downloads".

The greyed out Open File and Open Directory are probably because the download was set to "Simulated". You can check the "Download Directory" column to confirm that. "Simulate download" would have been check in the "Advanced options" in the Add URL(s) window for that to have happened. That option downloads the file without actually saving it to the disk. You can think of it like a speed test.
