Adding google widgets to inux Google Gadgets #349

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Try to add Igoogle gadgets
2.
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
We should be able to add Gadgets by URL as possible in the windows version.
For example IGoogle Gadgets. 

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
0.10.5 on Ubuntu 9.10

Please provide any additional information below.

Can you describe how you add a gadget by URL in the windows version? I'm not 
familiar

Its been a while since i tried this, but i think there is a option to add 
custom 
gadget by URL or option to create A new gadget.. 

Also it seems the gadgets available in the linux version are pretty limited.. 

For example, i need to use the Igoogle Tasks gadget on the desktop version.

I have experienced the same issue, using the distro's version of the
google-gadgets-for-linux Qt host.

I couldn't make sense of the response I got in issue 348, since my question was 
more
or less 'how do I install an iGoogle gadget through the gadget browser?' but the
instructions provided included...

"first add a "iGoogle gadget" from the gadget browser"

Giving phnixwxz the benefit of the doubt, I wondered whether what they meant to 
say
was 'the latest version has a wizard for adding iGoogle gadgets'. So I set about
trying to install a newer version than the version 0.10-based package available 
in
the repositories.

I tried to install the latest version from source, but found that the build
dependencies I found in bug 188 were problematic (they caused firefox to be 
removed).

I'm still working on it, but so far getting nowhere.

OK, I got my version 0.11.1 .deb package to install and can run from the 
command line
with ggl-qt.

Indeed phnixwxz was right. In the newer version there is an iGoogle gadget 
installer
wizard. However, when I add the iGoogle gadget, (even the default one), I get 

'Error loading gadget'

...and trying to follow phnixwxz's instructions to change the options to add a
different URL, I simply get a window which says...

'Options loading...'

.,.and which doesn't ever arrive at showing any controls which I could put a 
URL into.

We don't provide binary packages. They are built by communities. You can also 
build you 
own binary.

BTW you can still make iGoogle work with your current version. When you see 
'Error 
loading gadget', please try 'Unload' in the gadget menu, then you'll see the 
instructions. If the error remains, please check your network and proxy 
settings.

Please see bug 348. Please upgrade to a new version if you can't find the 
'iGoogle 
Gadget' in the gadget browser.

Will try that.. 

I dont suppose Ubuntu Repos will have been udpated for this new version yet 
right ? So 
i assume we shall need to it manually ?

I'm running google-gadgets 0.11.2 in Gentoo. I click on Add and iGoogle Gadget, 
paste 
the URL into the box, click Load Gadget. Every time I get a blank box with the 
message 
Error loading gadget. Here is one of the URLs I tried:
http://www.google.com/ig/adde?moduleurl=http://bijint.com/bijint.xml&source=imag

Is this not in the right format?
