Create a Unified Linux installer that installs a buildout #30

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
A "buildout" is a new way to manage packages. See
http://plone.org/documentation/tutorial/buildout. It would be preferable if the
GUI installers
installed a buildout rather than a custom package layout. This would make
installations more
consistent and controllable.

The task: Create a Unified Linux installer (using standard installer
development tools) that creates a
buildout.

Note - the installer should not assume that the user has a C compiler, Python
or any
other dependencies already installed.

would it be acceptable for this to be done in shell?

To higgylm - you will need to follow the Plone Unified Installer architecture.
This
is shell-based, but uses particular tools. Check it out from
http://plone.org/download.
