Cache folder - Is it used? #33

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

From looking at the cache contents, it doesn't look like it's used (there
was nothing in it), so is it?

And also, would it be possible to use the extra RAM that some homebrew
devices have instead, seeing that flash memory dies after a certain amount
of writes.(which makes flash memory not that great for caching...)

NOTE: I'm not saying to not use the flash memory, but only use it when
there isn't any external RAM, especially since that RAM should be faster too.

aw crap, it's type is set as a defect... But I didn't see anyway to change
that when
submitting it. Am I really blind?

Oh no! I know what's happened here. My script that builds the release copies
the data
directory from my build tree, which had the cache directory from testing the 0.4
release. In other words, the cache directory is there, but it shouldn't be as it
isn't used. Sorry about the confusion!

Also the Google Code issue tracker doesn't have a way for a user to change an
issue
type - don't worry.

I've uploaded 0.3.6 with a minor bug fix and it doesn't include the cache dir.

The upcoming version 0.4, which is still WIP, will use the cache.

OK, cool. But will extra RAM be used at all instead of a flash-memory cache if
it's
available? Caching to flash memory is scary for the reason explained
earlier... >_>;
