Symbols are not loaded for dlls not on C: drive #20

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. build chromium with the source tree located on d:
2. run sawbuck and chromium
3. open stack trace pane

What is the expected output?
Should show file/line/function for all chrome.dll frames.

What do you see instead?
no file/line/function info for chrome.ddll

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Sawbuck 0.6.4.0 on Vista 64

Please provide any additional information below.
If I create an empty directory tree on C: matching the one on D: and copy
chrome.dll there, sawbuck shows stack traces correctly.

This could be fixed by improving the module search functionality in the symbol
cache implementation, e.g. at
[http://code.google.com/p/sawbuck/source/browse/trunk/sawbuck/sym_util/symbol_ca
che.cc#154]. As-is, I believe dbghelp.dll only searched the system volume, or
perhaps the C: drive only. A patch would be most gratefully accepted :).

As a workaround you can symlink your D: drive into the C: drive namespace, or
stitch it in by using "mountvol" (this may be more efficient), and doing builds
from the C: drive's namespace.
