There should be a way to use units of measurement other than gal, sq. ft., in

some sort of toggle for metric/US works for now
eventually will want a menu system, including a settings tab
alter Catchment/Basin Views to make unit transformation, rather than altering model calculations

Note that it is currently possible to change the units used for the map scale by clicking on it.
