How to avoid being banned?
Seems like Midjourney starts blocking users. I Just got this message.
@Dominapp can you give some insights what happened prior to the ban?
@Dominapp Thanks. I'm wondering how they detected it then, since the usage doesn't really give away that this is a bot user.
Me too. I dead :|
@njho How would you describe your usage? Any detectable patterns?
I generated 24 images per day, 1 image per hour, and got banned again.

same here.

generate image per hour
Does anyone have any insight into why Midjourney specifically is so against api access?
Surely this is how they would make money, and if you're within the limits of your account (in terms of number of requests) then it shouldn't make any difference to there infrastructure management.
I'm really confused - feels like they have some philosophical rejection of giving broader access which makes no sense to me.
Anyone know if clicking Acknowledge helps/is required?

Just tell you that you are banned. “You have a pending moderation message. Please acknowledge it before using the bot further. Your account has been temporarily blocked due to suspicious activity.”
Also having this issue. Banned for 14 days. Does anyone have a solution or have you managed to identify the cause?
After your 14-day ban, did you continue?
Having 2 of 4 accounts banned, same methodology
@AlexandreFuchsWeb I'm currently utilizing the Mega Plan account and generating thousands of images daily without any problems, even with massive concurrent requests. My project involves full-blown live stories streaming with chatgpt, and Midjourney's been handling it without a hitch. That said, they are indeed profiting substantially from my usage as I'm having to pay for massive amounts of extra fast hours since using Turbo exclusively ( but it makes sense business-wise for us ).
It would be enlightening to understand the membership levels of those experiencing bans. My impression is that Mega Plan account users have greater flexibility, while those on free or basic plans might face restrictions leading to bans. If there are cases of Mega Membership users being banned, I'd be eager to hear about them.
Recently, I had discussions with Stability and Microsoft execs in person, exploring alternatives to Midjourney. The possibility of completely transitioning away from Midjourney exists, especially if they continue banning users and fail to provide an API. Microsoft's stance is DALL-E will outperform all others in the long run. Although presently, Midjourney’s consistency and alignment with my storylines remain unmatched. I'm able to generate full-fledged books on the fly in under 1 minute with 30 images that have the exact same character in different poses.
With competition like Leonardo entering the scene with new APIs, Midjourney's decision to ban users doesn't seem strategically sound. Our project is backed by significant funding, and our endorsement would translate to extensive free marketing for the AI company we ultimately choose to partner with. Would be Midjourney's loss.
ALSO: The Microsoft guys told me that the Midjourney guys are just a bunch of nerdy researchers with ZERO business mindset so that might be part of the problem. They likely fail to understand the market and probably don't have the engineering prowess to scale at the level they would need to if they opened up their API. Just from my business alone, they'd be getting millions of concurrent requests per minute as soon as we go live.
@alexhawkins i have 4 accounts with pro plan billing annualy. I had no problems for about 2 months and then all of a sudden 2 accounts fell off in the morning and one in the evening. The MEGA Plan would be too expensive to use because I just need to run relax mode 24 hours a day.
As for the rest of your message, I totally agree and that's what I think too. The fact remains that they've just banned me from 3 accounts on which I spent $576 each.
And at the moment, the competition isn't up to their standards, so it's very problematic for my service if it goes on like this.
I've added randomness to my generations and tried to reproduce human behavior as much as possible, so we'll see what happens.
@AlexandreFuchsWeb wow, that's wild and concerning. Thanks for sharing. How many images are you creating over a period of 24 hours and what sort of images if you don't mind me asking ( although doubt that has anything to do with it )?
How are these guys selling access to the Midjourney api through their own 3rd party service getting around it then? I mean they're basically just using this api and then selling that service. There are couple guys doing it I've seen and they're confident they won't get shutdown.
SD API access works well.
@alexhawkins approximately 1500 per account per day. And only soft stock photos with daily situations.
Yes yes i dont know ... cant figure how we get caught.
For SD, its actually very far for the results of MJ
Hello, colleagues! I just lost 15 accounts with the Standard tariff. In 48 hours, I had 700 generation in relax mode on each account. Then I got banned almost at the same time.
@alexhawkins每个帐户每天大约 1500 个。并且只有日常情况的软库存照片。
是的,是的,我不知道……不知道我们是怎么被抓住的。
对于SD来说,其实和MJ的成绩相差甚远
I'm in the same situation, have you found a solution to this?
Hello, until today, I have been a registered member with a pro account since August 2022 on Midjourney. I was banned today, and I am not sure of the reason. The only activity I engaged in before the ban was copying prompts from the images in the members' gallery and creating my own images. Upon retrospectively reviewing the images created in the last few hours, I didn't find anything suspicious that would explain the account block, except possibly for this prompt:
"slim thick Rita Hayworth::1.33 contre-jour lighting::1.25 full body tattoos skintight paperthin poolwear::1.25 delicate skin::0.5 --ar 9:16 --style raw --v 5.2"
Are there any words in this prompt that might have led to the account block without any warning?
If not, could the ban on my account be the result of an error?
It is not related, I am mega user but still got banned. No request or inquiry is told how to handle it
The account has been used normally before, after a weekend to use the prompt account was blocked
+1
when MJ will open their API?!!! Are there any alternative we can use?

you can use leonardo, they offer API services with similar quality.
thanks @raymerjacque I've tried Leonardo, seems still not as good as Midjourney. Maybe I've got the wrong model. : (

i dont think anything is as good as midjourney, but a few do come close. the problem is you will keep getting banned with midjourney. i stopped using them more than a year ago already. not because of the banning issue, i just wasnt happy with the setup in general. found much easier routes.
ok. Today I lost 2 more new accounts. (both still have 28h fast hours left but banned by Midjourney)
MJ even banned my IP address.
It's very frustrating journey so far.
I wonder how those websites selling Midjourney APIs can still running without any issue. e.g. https://mymidjourney.ai how this site can manage MJ upstream without being banned. He is selling APIs, he must have more usage than my case.
From what I know they have exactly two ways to detect you. First when you log into their website, they take the browser fingerprint and your IP. Second when you download the image, they also get your IP. It should be avoidable if you use mobile IPs to access the resources.

I think ip addresses might give you away, that's how google detect bots. So there are some online services selling residential ip for crawlers. Midjourney can easily get a list of ip addresses of popular cloud providers such as aws, azure and cloudflare. Once you logged in or operate with those ip addresses, they can tell you are not human instantly.
i live in iran and i have to use vpn for writing prompts that’s why what should i do? im not a bot just lack of luck :(
