Are you sure you really mean netbookinstaller ?? If so, that's not designed to
be run on the Mac, its designed to be run on the Netbook that OS X is installed
on - maybe that's why its crashing.
You should be downloading and running netbookbootmaker on the Mac to create the
USB boot device from the OS X DVD image.
Good guide to the whole process here:-

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your response,
I definitely mean netbookinstaller. I'm on step 14 of the 'on the mac'
instructions on the link that you provided, and am attempting to create the usb
boot device. Yet, every time I attempt to open netbookinstaller- on my mac- it
crashes.
Full disclaimer: I am not tech savvy, and if i'm misunderstanding a basic
procedure here, then I apologize in advance.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Step 14 says :-
"Open the NetbookBootMaker application. If a warning prompt shows up asking,
"Are you sure you want to open it?" click Open."
Its referring to netbookbootmaker not netbookinstaller - they are 2 completely
different things.
Netbookbootmaker is the sw that patches the USB stick to work at boot on the
netbook. This should be run on your iMac.
Netbookinstaller is the sw used on the netbook itself, once OS X is installed,
to put the netbook drivers, boot code etc in place. This should only be run on
the netbook.
It seems like a complicated process I know but once you getthe hang of things,
especially the terminology, it works like a dream.
Hope this helps. If not let me know.
