Is it actively bad in some way? I'd rather be able to type standard commands that have worked for years than have to look up what the new equivalent is. If the setup.py shim stops working or is somehow broken/insecure, sure, let's remove it. In the mean time, there is no reason to do so.
Happy to revisit if there's a strong argument for removing it, but in that case it would be good to include something other than an empty description when submitting a PR.
