Week 2 - Get Familiar with Machine Learning for Chemistry

• [x] Select a model from the list suggested in GitBook
• [ ] Download and serve the model via the Ersilia Model Hub to ensure it works
• [ ] Open a repository on your GitHub user with all the necessary files
• [ ] Select and clean a dataset of 1000 molecules (example notebook 1)
• [ ] Run predictions for the molecules on the selected model and evaluate the results

Week 3 - Validate a Model in the Wild

• [ ] Find a suitable dataset with sufficient experimental results
• [ ] Clean and standardize the dataset
• [ ] Run predictions and calculate metrics.

Week 4 - Prepare your final application

APPLICATION TO ERSILIA

I am excited to apply for the Outreachy internship program, particularly for the opportunity to work with Ersilia. Ersilia's mission to democratize access to AI and ML models for biomedical research resonates deeply with me. As a data scientist with a strong background in sciences, Python, and experience in Git and GitHub Actions, I am eager to contribute my skills to support research into infectious and neglected diseases in low-income countries.

One of the reasons I am interested in working at Ersilia is the organization's focus on building capacity in data science and AI/ML. I believe that my experience and expertise can contribute significantly to this goal. Additionally, Ersilia's advocacy for open science aligns with my values, as I firmly believe in the importance of openness in scientific collaboration.

During the internship, I aim to enhance my skills in AI and ML and contribute meaningfully to Ersilia's projects. I am confident that the internship will not only advance my career but also provide me with valuable experience and knowledge in working on impactful projects in a collaborative environment, which I have already seen from the week-one tasks.

After the internship, I plan to continue working in the field of data science, with a focus on using AI and ML to address challenges in healthcare and biomedical research. I hope to leverage the skills and experience gained at Ersilia to contribute to innovative solutions in this field.
