Hi Edwin,

This is a bit of messy pull request--sorry. This is the best I could do rebasing my branch, which had drifted off a bit, against yours. It contains mostly boilerplate stuff for PyPi etc. (If you take this over now, then I'll keep my master in sync to avoid a similar mess in the future!)
