I had the same problem but it worked when building from source

installing according to [Configuration and Installation] in README

Got this too - you have to select the lib/instrumented-idf-clion-plugin-0.1-SNAPSHOT file... That'll get further, but then fail due to https://github.com/espressif/idf-clion-plugin/issues/6
