Instant search results tab replaces (clears) previous tab history #104

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open a new and clean Firefox profile
  2. Install InstantFox 3.0.0
  3. Press Ctrl/Cmd+K to invoke Awesome Bar (with Searchbar integrated)
  4. Type in some characters and the Instant Search Results Page appears in the current tab
  5. Either:
    • Use Alt+Enter to open a new tab to show search results, or
    • Right-click on any search result and choose "Open in New Tab"
  6. A new tab opens, and the original tab which the Instant page was shown is still showing the Instant search results
  7. However, it's not possible to go back to tab history before the instant search was performed

    Other comments

It may seem to like the tab is "hijacked" by InstantFox to display Instant search results. Anyway I still like InstantFox.

Instant search tabs are also not getting into browser's history. So if you close one and then hit Ctrl+Shift+T (undo close) - a different tab will get re-opened. And you can't ctrl+f on them (it finds nothing).

Thanks for the workaround provided. Still hope the original behavior can be corrected~

That's not a workaround, I just pointed that the problem is not as narrow as you described, it's way bigger. And it's present for more than a year.

There are other strange effects: After searching in address bar with "instant page loading" enabled the bookmarking failed for this tab. Also "duplicate tab" with "All-in-one Gesture" addon failed in this case and there are the mentioned history and tab re-open problems.

My workaround: Setting "Enable Instant" in the upper right corner of the settings to "none". This fixed all the problems but - of course - there is no instant page loading any more. This is a loss but the other problems are more annoying.
