Firefox 48: URL autocomplete/autosuggest doesn't work with Instantfox enabled #125

Firefox 48 updated its address bar dropdown to look fancier and take up the entire screen's width, but it also seems to have broken compatibility with Instantfox. The URL autocompletion doesn't work for me anymore with Instantfox enabled. Is anyone else having this issue?

Have been having the autocompletion issue for months now, a workaround for me was turning instantfox off and on again in the addon menu. I decided to look into it a bit more now, though, and it turns out Firefox now offers very similar built-in functionality, see this other issue.

I had the autocompletion issue a few months ago and turning Instantfox on and off again fixed it at the time, but with the update to FF48 it's broken again, and disabling/enabling it doesn't seem to work.

The bookmark keyword thing has been in Firefox for years now, I think even Firefox 1 had it! However, it doesn't provide suggestions, which is what I used Instantfox for.

Can confirm, InstantFox doesn't work with the latest stable Firefox. Hopefully this can be fixed soon.

To clarify InstantFox does still work for custom search presets, but autocomplete of the top suggestion from history/bookmarks/etc does not work

Workaround: press Tab or down arrow to complete first URL suggestion

In my configuration, the address bar dropdown list is now entirely broken in Firefox 49 with InstantFox enabled.

I'm having the same issue with FF 49.0.1. Once InstantFox is disabled, the autocompletion starts to work again.

I have given up on the FF autoupdates. Instant Fox is so important to me that I am switching to the Extended Support Release (ESR): https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/

I just don't know what I will do after March 2017. I am happy to contribute if development is restarted on InstantFox.
