Plans to revise and improve previous report #5

As we take over the job from previous group and after our groups's discussion, we plan to do several things to improve existing report:

  1. First thing first, we will change the report's title (main research question) to be: What weather conditions are likely to cause regular bushfires in Australia? (previously is What climatic conditions caused the frequent occurrence of the bushfires in Australia?)
  2. Our main focus is to make the report easier to read and understand by common people. Hence, we will make some adjustments on story flow as well some plots to be more informative. For the purpose of coherency, our secondary possible questions will be covering:

Temperature & Humidity

  - Where does rainfall occur most in Australia?
  - Where are the hottest temperatures in Australia?

Bushfires

 - Where are the Australian bushfires?

How are they related?

- How does rainfall and temperature affect the Australian bushfires?

These outlines are subject to change as per further group discussion.

Fortunately, I was able to participate in a new and interesting topic, the bushfires occurred in Australia.

In our group's opinion, the original group has almost done the best in the deep data analysis, except for a little flaws in the range setting and the definitions of question, which we will modify and improve that.

Therefore, our group will show more about the relatively less factors in the report of the original group, that is, the intuitive visualization of those data, such as the Frequency or Severity of bushfires in various regions of Australia, the temperature distribution in Australia and the features of rainfalls in different regions of Australia. These factors are very necessary and can serve as a ladder*** to guide deeper data exploration.

Of course, other new ideas may emerge during the analysis of those data, which might be written in the issue again and applied to our report.

As my team members above have discussed, we will look to change the research questions slightly and break up the report into three sections; temperature and humidity (i.e. weather), bushfires, and how weather affects bushfires.

As Vega mentioned, we will make some adjustments to the readability of the report. In addition, we will correct any spelling mistakes from the previous team.

As Year mentioned, we will make some changes to the visualisations. I thought we could change some of the visualisations to make them interactive, so the user can identify relevant years, rainfall levels, etc.

Additionally, when discussing the the report together via zoom we noticed that the more severe bushfires were often on the bottom half of Australia (where the climate is hotter and drier). We hope to draw some conclusions associating low humidity and bushfires, however, have noticed that the dataset is lacking a humidity variable. This might be an area that we explore together, as a team.

On the whole, the previous team have done a fantastic job of the report.
