Dashboard app_status model #60

Created a model for app_status that just provides a uniform way to access app status information without going into config files and database queries.

Also modified the structure of how build and install configuration is saved slightly.

An open question for @katiek and @geosoco: How should we organize the server-side models? I put this one in an ext folder, but that felt sort of strange.

Addresses issue #30

I agree with the choice to have this be available from an ext model.

Changed my mind and moved into 'app' folder.
