Cryptsetup-reencrypt failing from initramfs shell on ubuntu

I tried  to enable encryption on root partition on ubuntu. I am trying to 
execute the cryptsetup-reencrypt tool from initramfs shell, it is failing with 
some error. Not exactly sure what is the root cause..

This is not Ubuntu support forum, please use bug tracker for that specific 
distro.

Anyway, it seems that there is missing "cipher_null" cipher module or support 
in your kernel, please check /proc/crypto and syslog.

(Moreover, check if without reducing fs in advance you are not going to destroy 
your filesystem if using the -N switch)
