I've made an update that hopefully clarifies things better. If you feel any further edits are merited, just let me know.
My use case for EteSync is to have a synced calendar that is shared certain friends. In this case I don't want my contacts to be synced - just the calendar and tasks, so CardDAV support is not needed. For a user like me, when an app or plugin requires me to install an app/plugin from a third party (which in turn requires another plugin), it's a little disconcerting. It means now I need to evaluate this third party plugin and determine whether I trust it or not, and worry about whether the two will become incompatible at some point in the future. I'd prefer to do without the additional moving parts if possible. Fortunately, for this use case it is possible, and a little guidance in the manual is all a user like me needs to be a happy customer.
In, thanks a lot!
Hey,
Thanks for the pull request, though I don't think that's the right place to put this information and it's very vague. Maybe can split this section to "### Using TbSync (recommended)" and "### Using Thunderbird's built-in CalDAV support". Though as I told you elsewhere, the built-in support is quite lacking and it doesn't support address books either, so a plugin is needed anyway...
Edit: here's the comment I was referring to: https://github.com/etesync/etesync-dav/issues/152#issuecomment-671017165
