3 years ago I think it's a problem with gnome-tasks, which doesn't actually use the evolution backend for it... I think you should check with upstream.

hi i have setup evolution-etesync on my device, and it worked but the problem is it doesn't work with gnome tasks.
neither does etesync-dav, adding it as nextcloud doesn't work since there is no webdav support.
is there any way to get gnome tasks working ? maybe bypass the webdav check in gnome accounts ? or add custom dav provider ? because unfortunately evolution's task management is way worse
