I will target this against #1025, if and when I see this fail on its own against master.

The GCC 12 configuration seems to fail nicely, while others started building (https://gitlab.com/cscs-ci/ci-testing/webhook-ci/mirrors/4700071344751697/7514005670787789/-/jobs/5469465492).
