Paid for a Token, didn't receive it #161

Open Creeptonite opened 7 years ago

Creeptonite commented 7 years ago

A few days ago I purchased a WTT token, and didn't received it. Can the problem be that I had only the exact amount for it in the Etherdelta wallet, or the gas is taken from the original one? Is there I way I could receive it back ? https://etherscan.io/tx/0x3a888dfa662eba48ab1d2fb27628d73689b54e314f74971ef4dfe876e1d166cb

I made afterwards 2nd attempt to buy, having surplus currency both in my wallet and the Etherdelta one, and it worked.

3rd and 4th attempt also failed - apparently your site is too slow and shows offers that are already expired (or sold and closed). However I was taxed for these failed attempts too and this is really frustrating !

If the trade failed, you only would have lost gas. Link me to the transaction.

Yes, the 3rd and 4th failed and I lost only gas, but the first seems to be complete, yet I didn't receive neither the token, nor my money back Failed first attempt: https://etherscan.io/tx/0x3a888dfa662eba48ab1d2fb27628d73689b54e314f74971ef4dfe876e1d166cb

Second attempt (that was success) : https://etherscan.io/tx/0xe0a850c94991bbf9b638209d47e75a250b78df5f796aeb7a30b456ff5bed93f9

In my transactions I can see only :

Transaction Type WTT ETH WTT/ETH
0xe0a850c9 Buy 1.000 0.008 0.008300000

I guess you can also check than only 1 WTT was transferred to my account that day, and the money from the fist purchase wasn't returned either.

Where is the gas taken from - the amount deposited in Etherdelta, or the one in the wallet ? I assume the fast I had only the exact amount of the token price in Etherdelta could be the problem - gas was taken, and the rest was not enough for the token, is this possible? However the rest of the sum (bigger part) was completely lost...

You later withdrew the 1 WTT and then transferred it somewhere else: https://etherscan.io/token/0x84119cb33e8f590d75c2d6ea4e6b0741a7494eda?a=0x7ca6c5d6f962587e898b65bcf510af31d9a464bb

Yes, that was the successfully bought one from the second link. I made 4 attempts to buy a token, got fully taxed for 2 (and only gas for the ones marked as failures), and received only one.

zackcoburn commented 7 years ago

The other one is a small partial trade so small the UI doesn't show it. It only cost you gas.

In the etherscan of my address it's clearly seen that I have deposited: 0.0083+0.015+0.003 It's also seen that I have sent away only one token, priced 0.0083. So I should have left 0.018, instead I have around 0.01. Clearly I'm behind with hte exact price of one token.

Please don't understand me wrong, I'm not some kind of cheap bastard, 2.40$ won't make me richer or poorer. I was just testing how is your system working before making a bigger purchase, and I hope you can understand my frustration and doubt to try and deposit more money/attempt bigger purchase. I want to at least understand what went wrong and how to avoid it. So, is the gas taken by the money deposited in Etherdata (because I saw also my money from the wallet going down, but that might have been the taxes from the transfer to Etherdata with some delay)?

WTT has no decimal places. In the order that didn't result in a token, you got rounded down to 0. In the other one, you got rounded to 1 token. When you're trading an 18 decimal "token" (Ether) versus a 0 decimal token (WTT), the smart contract has to decide which direction to round.
