Add information about being a Node Operator in a Pooled Staking Protocol #11017

Your website is the go-to-place for people looking to stake ETH.

A beginner usually goes check the information about Solo staking, Staking as a service and Pooled Staking.

However, in the Pooled Staking section you only show the criteria for staking ETH into the pool. But, Rocket Pool (RP) also offers the option to run a Node Operator. Many people see that RP is the protocol that meets the most criteria for Pooled Staking, and assume it is safe to be a Node Operator for the protocol.

This was my story and I have now spoke with many NOs for Rocket Pool and they re-tell this story. After further studying the tokenomics of RP many realised it's way more riskier than Solo staking or SaaS and they regret their decision. This is because you have to buy and hold the protocol token in order to be a NO. They call this a "collateral" which gives the impression you get the value back at the end. But, the truth is that this works like a ponzi. The token does not accrue any value from the protocol so it's essentially a zero-sum game and the value you get back depends on how you time your entrance and exit from the protocol. A more deep analysis is here.

It's hard to propagate this message to beginners who are looking for information. Criticism of the tokenomics on public forums like Reddit gets downvoted until irrelevance. Their Discord and website are biased. And, the Ethereum website gives them a lot of legitimacy.

Your website does a fantastic job evaluating the criteria to stake ETH into various Pooled Staking protocols. I think it should also evaluate criteria to be a Node Operator on those protocols. Only Rocket Pool allows this atm, but I believe more and more protocols will start allowing it.

Hey @jpiabrantes, thanks for the suggestion! Sorry for delay here, but I do agree that this content would be valuable. Removed the stale label... would you be interested in working on this?

If so, I would recommend dropping an outline of how you'd like to go about this here before getting too deep into the actual copy writing. Do me a favor and @ me here if you do.

Otherwise we can leave this open for someone else to pick up.

Btw, the mirror link you provided is an "edit" link which is not able to be opened, for those interested, here is the public link: https://mirror.xyz/abranti.eth/I3zyd_QjTw6zIPhy7ypcup-FUvo6j6yD9RXeN8dZUyQ

Where did you envision this content being placed on the site? On the /staking/solo page?

Im wondering how we could incorporate something about deposit information which would address this. We could do more to explain the collateral here instead of just saying 10.4ETH as a starter. Instead have 8 ETH, and 2.4 ETH work of RPL. Curious if you have pushback on expanding the deposit information like that @konopkja.

We could link out to the documentation on deposit information better here with a tooltip for the collateral information on every one of these projects, and this would help give more information or at least a better source of information about deposit information.

Maybe a new indicator could be something about their own token for deposit, and linking out to tokenomics documentation if they have it? Even then still not sure that would link out to the article here.

Did you have any ideas how you would show this information @jpiabrantes or @wackerow?
