I am experiencing the exact same problem. I have version 0.9.0 installed.

@SFerrazLeite I just deleted all the files of it and downloaded the newest version. I didn't want to give myself a headache so I just deleted them all and launched the app to let it load all the blocks again.

There's a lot of bugs trying to connect to the network, I already paid a course of Ethereum Develeopmet but Im not being able to continue cause of this issue been strugling with it since a lot time ago, Even if I download the whole chain I cant switch between Rinkeby and Ropsten and start mining, and if I restart the wallet the problem appears again and again, very dissapointed.

HelloImRyan I have on my wallet some coins. But the "Node Connection Error". If I delete it and re installed will I lose money on wallet ?

try going to app data/roaming/ethereum, open the file called network and make sure it doesn't say "test"... if it does delete the word and save ... then reopen ethereum... worked for me...

on windows 10 press > windows key + x select > Windows powershell (Admin) / Command Prompt (Admin) type in & hit enter key> C:\WINDOWS\system 32> w32tm /resync wait for few seconds n you should get "The command completed successfully" message and your'e done restart pc if needed n the ethereum node connection error is fixed. worked perfectly for me.
