Version: `0.9.2`
OS & Version: osx 10.13
Node version: `geth 1.7.2`
Number of blocks synchronized: 4384734

When I'm trying to send some amount of ETH from one account to another they are not transferring. I tried to make transaction may be 20 times with different amounts and different fees. But I got the same result every time. After submitting any transaction it goes to list of latest transactions and being recorded there as awaiting confirmations. But even after 2 hours of waiting I receive 0 confirmations. And even after 2 hours my transaction is still can’t be founded on etherscan. I also tried Mist, whith the same result. In logs i foun error: WARN [10-18|21:34:37] Failed to journal local transaction err="no active journal"

Despaired I tried MyEtherWallet and everything was fine👆🏻. But coming back to Etherium Wallet brings me the same result again.

So could you be so kind to give me advise what to do with Etherium Wallet to solve my problem.

I have the same since 2 days. Just after the Hard fork I was not able to transfer any funds. 0.9.1 and than update to 0.9.2 both not working. 0 of 12 confirmations all the time.

ghost commented 7 years ago

@leniartek so I'm not alone. Actually funds which were placed on usual account can be reached with another client like MyEtherWallet. Only one sad thing with MyEtherWallet for me is that I don't know how to reach smart wallet contract with it.

leniartek commented 7 years ago

@Anoxis yup it also works for me but I do not like idea of sharing my password and wallet on external sites... Every smart contract has normal address like every other account, you just send ETH to that address.

ghost commented 7 years ago

@leniartek I need to transfer funds from👆🏻 smart wallet contract. MyEtherWallet is not showing to me smart wallet contract which is connected to main account.

RiverRhine commented 7 years ago

Hmmm, same here: Mist outgoing transactions fail.

Geth 1.7.2, Mist 0.9.2, fully synced and online. Last outgoing transactions failed (~7 tests with highest gas in Mist: Max fee ~0.00097 - 0,0012 ETH)

Geth says: "Submitted transaction" grafik

But Mist tells after ~5 minutes and zero confirmations in a yellow box: "Transaction from xxx to YYY could not be executed" (or something like that): grafik

Transactions don't show up in etherscan and no ETH are moved at all.

Never had this before. Occured after the last update after the HF.

But: Incomming transactions work nicely and show up in Mist ~2 minutes after sending (from a trading platform, which used higher gas of 0.005eth)

Is the maximum gas suggested by Mist eventually to low? Shouldn't there be a way to increase the gas suggested by Mist?

VBGAMER45 commented 7 years ago

Same issue with RiverRhine. Always 0 out of 12 confirmations. Trying with other gas fee values higher and lower makes no difference. On windows 7 64bit.

Oliky commented 7 years ago

Also got the same Problem. I thought something went wrong at mine PC ^^

blt9884 commented 7 years ago

Mine was doing same thing. I just saved my keystores (wallets) then reinstalled from scratch (as in reload entire blockchain) but 6 hours later I am up and rolling no problem. You can reload your keystores (keep the same wallet, balances and all) as long as you back them up some place safe. BTW I am on Mac OSX 10.13 as well.

Hope this helps,

Maybe we are now part of some new ETH clone :)

sbass301 commented 7 years ago

This appears to be a Geth problem, not a Mist problem. I was running the latest geth (v1.7.2) and Mist (v0.9.2), and was having the same problem: 0 of 12 Confirmations forever, or failing. I tried:

I finally solved the issue by launching the latest parity geth client: c:\program files\parity\parity\parity.exe --geth

Then when I started mist, I noticed that there were a couple more thousand blocks that weren't synced, even though I had just closed geth/mist that said it was synced. After syncing, mist started, and everything worked great. In fact, a whole handful of test transactions that I had previously tried all suddenly went through. It was like winning on the slots. ;)

eristoddle commented 7 years ago

I'm having the same problem on OSX 10.12.6, Wallet version 0.9.2. Creating transactions worked yesterday and today I tried sending one, then a second. Neither is showing on etherscan. And I am so new to this, I am not sure what I do now. Will they go through? Can I cancel them to not make them go through?

ghost commented 7 years ago

@eristoddle I'm not sure that there is the way to cancel transactions that you’ve already send them. I've made several transactions trying to take my money out of the smart contract prison. They obtained a 0 of 12 status and after an hour or so all of them disappeared from the latest transaction list of Mist wallet. They also were not displayed on Etherscan, but somehow today 5 of those transaction appears in my wallet. So apparently they were placed in some kind of buffer. By the way I tried to reinstall Mist on different laptop, as @sbass301 recommended, but I faced the same problem there. Now I stopped my attempts to make new transactions and just waiting for old to be executed. So @leniartek as I can conclude now - the possibility to send money from Mist completely depends of your karma level and moon phase.

leniartek commented 7 years ago

@Anoxis maybe this will help in your case https://www.myetherwallet.com/#contracts

DurandalFuture commented 7 years ago

I'm having the same problem. Can anyone translate how 'launching the latest parity geth client' on a Mac would be done (as to @sbass301 solution on PC)?

sbass301 commented 7 years ago

@DurandalFuture Regarding Parity on Mac.... Looks like there are Mac downloads on the Parity Release Page here: https://github.com/paritytech/parity/releases There is a pkg installer for the whole parity suite (which would include the parity wallet)... and also for just the binary. If all you want to do is sync the chain using the parity geth client "parity --geth", then I think you just need the binary. I'm not a Mac guy, so don't know how to run that... but I think you should be able to open a shell/command window and run that at whatever location it got downloaded.

ghost commented 7 years ago

@leniartek tried several times what you advised, but not working. Error - not enough funds on account. Even although I have there almost 3 ETH.

ghost commented 7 years ago

4 days left and still no confirmations. ((( sshot

ismg commented 7 years ago

Same issue here: I can receive ethers but I can't transfer them. My wallet is in sync but anytime I try to transfer ethers after a few minutes I get the error message: "The transaction from Main account (Etherbase) to ... couldn't be successfully executed." The transaction doesn't show up in Etherscan and in my local logs I don't see any issue. Very annoying, it's as if my ethers are lost.

RiverRhine commented 7 years ago

A follow up to my text above. Even though mist told me that my (six) test transaction failed and got no confirmations, the transactions finally went through ABOUT ONE DAY delayed. Which mixed up my intended transactions of course... . I tested that with Parity client and etherscan.io on the next day.

That is really strange because Mist clearly stated: "Transaction failed!" My solution/workaround: I finally imported my mist/geth accounts in Parity and tested further transactions there: All transactions worked fin within 1min time frame or so.

So for now I stick with parity? I really would like to use mist again ...

How can mist report a failed transaction and geth works them off in the backround? I'm pretty sure my geth was fully synced, since incomming transactions were reflected within a minute or so.

Currently no idea, what could cause this incinsistent behaviour ... Regards

lketchersid commented 7 years ago

@Anoxis these are the steps I took to semi-fix this behavior. I'm using Ethereum Wallet 0.9.2 on OS X.

For background, apparently each of the transactions are done in order, and there is a variable called "nonce" which determines the order. If one of the transactions get stuck for some reason (in my case I believe it was not enough gas) it appears that the others just sit there. It also appears that if there isn't a first transaction (i.e., nonce=0) then nothing is done.

I went to the Developer UI (Develop->Toggle developer tools-Wallet UI and at the prompt at the bottom executed this command:

Transactions.find().fetch()

This brings back an array of the pending transactions (in my case, there were three). Clicking on the triangle to expand the array, I went to each in turn (starting with the oldest one) and in the object list of fields (JSON I believe) I found the "_id" field. Then to delete the transactions, for each one I executed:

Transactions.remove("tx_dc8a792605")

where "tx_dc8a792605" is replaced by the value in the "_id" field.

As soon as I did this, the transactions were removed from the list of Latest Transactions.

After I removed all of them, I stopped and restarted Ethereum Wallet. Then I tried to send my transaction again. This time it decremented ETH from my Wallet, and, when I click on the arrow by the transaction in the Latest Transactions list, I can see in etherscan.io that the transaction was getting confirmations....but these were not reflected in the Ethereum Wallet UI. It still said 0 of 12. I continued to watch on etherscan and as soon as the transaction received enough confirmations it went through.

So - semi-fixed. The transaction went through, ETH decremented correctly (and displayed) on the wallet, but the transaction still says 0 of 12 confirmations.

Hope this helps.

jbscrap commented 7 years ago

Try updating your system time to sync to an internet time server - this solved the problem for me.

I had the same issue after upgrading to 0.9.2 after the Byzantium upgrade, so I decided to give Parity a try, which threw an error about the system time being off. So I went and updated the system time, re-launched the Ethereum Wallet client, let it finish syncing, and then was able to do transactions. Note, this was also asked in stackexchange:

imsats commented 6 years ago

Hello All, is there any solution for this, I am still unable to send ether out of the wallet. The same statement "0 of 12 confirmation". Any help?

ismg commented 6 years ago

I guess it's a synchronization issue. I'm using the Mist wallet on a Windows 10 pc: I deleted the folder 'chaindata' under \AppData\Roaming\Ethereum\geth , checked that the internet time was synchronised and then turned on the wallet and waited a few hours to download the blockchain from scratch. I faced this issue another time and had to do again this process, but now I'm able to send ethers.

imsats commented 6 years ago

@ismg thanks. Will try and come back to you. Cheers.

kevinquillen commented 6 years ago

Having the same issue. Can't send any Eth out of the wallet. High Sierra, 10.13.1, everything is updated. Tried deleting the transactions in the UI as previous poster mentioned, nothing has work. I simply cannot move any Eth.

imsats commented 6 years ago

@ismg thanks. I deleted the chain data and transferred. It worked.

ymene commented 6 years ago

Usually there is no need to synchronize the blockchain again. It mostly depends on how much transactions there are currently open and not handled yet. If that is the case, maybe this step by step guide helps you, too. I was in the same situation and I found a way to modify a transaction to increase gas price and gas limit, which fixed the issue for me. Let me know there, if that fixed your issue!
