Sending Ethereum ETH from Bitstamp multi-sig smart contract to Bithumb and Huobi - deposit failed #3530

Closed 0marcel0 closed 6 years ago

0marcel0 commented 6 years ago

I made a stupid mistake, I have sent ETH to bithumb.com and huobi.com directly from my bitstamp.net account and after 5 days the money still does not appear in my accounts.

I called Bithumb on the phone and it seems that there is another about 50 cases before my case, but they give me no ETA

Huobi told me that they need about one month to solve my issue :(

Someone who encountered the same problem and solved the problem till now?

tib101 commented 6 years ago

@0marcel0: how could you possibly open a bithumb account?

0marcel0 commented 6 years ago

@tib101 I have an account with them that I opened 6 months ago. You can deposit and trade crypto/KRW but you can not deposit or withdraw KRW. But it seems that soon foreigners will be denied to trade on the Korean trading platforms

99electronic commented 6 years ago

Now it happened with my ripple deposit... This time I sent everything right way, but it is not deposited and I was told it needs time and I have to wait. Very frustrating.

Adamnfool commented 6 years ago

was this also with bitthhumb? I finally heard back from Huobi in a soomewhat coherent manner and they said it'll take 1-2 months...jesus, where's the big flashing warning? how much in resources have they spent dealing with people like me. Good thing it wasn't much as I'll just consider this money I'll never see again and treat it as a bonus if I do....I fear the honeymoon period is over for me and crypto. returns have been shit lately, volatility is unnerving...any thoughts to help pump my tires?

for me it was 50ETH and now 12500XRP, I will need that back 100% I can not just write it off... Both cases with Bithumb. I called and I was told it may take weeks, but why? I did send it before it was 30 minutes max, never problem why weeks now for sending XRP to same address using same tag, this is very bad.

p069128 commented 6 years ago

Same issue for me. 41 ETH and 5,000 XRP. ETH was because of contract wallet, and XRP was invalid tag, I pasted wrong tag number. They keep say it takes patients, I just want to know of one person Ever that got it worked out with “Bithumb”. Anyone. Ever??

Adamnfool commented 6 years ago

Oh dude that's a lot of cake. sorry to hear. especially scary with uncertainty in Korea at the moment. I guess you were trying to do some arbitrage trading to take advantage of difference in pricing?

wow my losses are minimal in comparison. I guess it's relative but still brutal. hope it wasn't your life savings! Your comment about pasting wrong address is concerning. I used the "copy" button on Huobi and went the next day to look up the ether transaction and compare to current address and it was off by one capital letter. please tell me that's normal for ETH addresses to change like BTC or did it not copy what it was supposed to?

After calling Bithumb a lot over various questions I got the idea they are very aware about Reddit posts. Probably other social media also, but she said “ you saw that info on Reddit didn’t you”. It was a question about foreigners being banned.

Anyhow, anyone know how to start a Reddit thread to announce our issues and track resolution times, and also see if anyone ever got a resolution ever. It would be nice to have a tracking number, like your issue is 150 of 1 million.

tib101 commented 6 years ago

@adamfool yes it s normal for ETH, not a problem. Did you send ETH to thimb also?

Adamnfool commented 6 years ago

@tib101...thanks, glad to hear about addresses. Fortunately didn't try to send any thing to bitthumb though the spreads were tempting. Holding out a splinter of hope for huobi but nothing I can't recover from happy to say. Hopefully they're not simply holding out for some potential govt hammer blow I'm not aware of, triggering their "take the money n' run" reflex

My XRP has been deposited after 12 hours. The ETH still not in my wallet but I was told that every last week of the month they do fix those issues at once so I should expect the funds first/second week of February. I'm OK with that as of now...

Adamnfool commented 6 years ago

that's Huobi you speak of? or bitthumb?

I'm talking about Bithumb. I don't have Huobi.

p069128 commented 6 years ago

I wanted to start a list for us Bithumb people.

P069128(Chad)- been waiting on Bithumb since Dec 20,2017 for 41.9 ETH deposited from Bitstamp. Also 5,000 XRP I put the wrong tag number on(invalid tag, not someone elses). I can see it all on the Blockchain websites.

99Electronic and everyone else who is waiting on Bithumb if you could chime in by date and issue.

Still waiting to hear from anyone that Bithumb has every resolved anything for.

p069128 commented 6 years ago

I think 99Electronic and I might be traveling to Korea in person some day. Semi joking, but like you and will not just let this go, it’s worth a plane ticket and a picket sign

TakaMoriHK commented 6 years ago

For me it was 20 ETH sent Jan 5 or so — also from Bitstamp.

Bithumb have 2 offices in seoul, one located in the south part (kangnam) and another one up north. My friend (a french resident) visited the kangnam one about 10days ago to put some pressure (Ethereum sent and not received, smartcontract issue) and the secretary barely spoke english and told him there is nothing she can do. I plan to go to the other office next week at gwanghwamun (if some of u guys are un seoul feel free to join). Also it looks like every foreigner must resign up properly before Jan 31st in order to use bithumb.

99electronic commented 6 years ago

On their ETH deposit page there is information saying that in case you send ETH to ETC or other way around they deal with that on the last week each month. I was told that it will be handled same time (last week on January) I believe they will give us our ETH by the first or second week in February. I have email, they are not denying having my ETHs sent from contract wallet, it is just longer time to recovery those. What is surprising for me, is that the exchange with this volume of ETH does not support contract wallet yet! My guess is that they are implementing contract wallet as of now and it takes them longer than they would like to... but they do not want to fix our contracts deposits because after they do implement it right, it will be automatically deposited for all of us. but that's just my guess...

tib101 commented 6 years ago

it is now the last week of January, hoppefully they ll do what they say although I havent seen the information on the ETH deposit page. And why would they try to keep our ETH? Since they make money for every transaction it would be better for them that we use our ETH...

tib101 commented 6 years ago

on the ETH deposit page it says

Please note that a deposit from a contract wallet or using a contract may not be paid into the wallet.

Mistaken deposits between ETH and ETC are processed in the last week of each month, but there may be a case where a deposit cannot be processed due to a technical reason.

Therefore, please double check the recipient’s address before making a deposit.

IMO it s only mistaken deposits between ETH and ETC that are processed last week of the month, and in any case it says that the smartcontract issue is processed at the end of the month...

99electronic commented 6 years ago

this is on the ETH deposit page: "Note: when depositing Ethereum(ETH) Please check the deposit address of the Ehtereum(ETH) and proceed the withdrawal. Please note that a deposit from a contract wallet or using a contract may not be paid into the wallet. Mistaken deposits between ETH and ETC are processed in the last week of each month, but there may be a case where a deposit cannot be processed due to a technical reason. Therefore, please double check the recipient’s address before making a deposit."

They told me that on the phone too.

paintedrough commented 6 years ago

I deposited 10 ETH at the 12th of December. I already had a first calender month swap and nothing happened...

p069128 commented 6 years ago

I already had an end of month also. I’m not to alarmed yet, just want you all to understand it has taken over a month so far, and I have not seen to many people chime in that their issue got resolved.

Hopefully they are just waiting for a tech update. The technology is a work in progress, by now these transfers should be rejected by Bithumb automatically or by BitStamp. Do they all want to cause confusion and mistrust, they know each other’s issues. I almost blame Bitstamp more. At this point we all need to demand a complaint number or que number. All I get is it can “take a lot a bunch of time, many signatures required, much time”, actually got through to Operations Dept 3 weeks ago.

Again, it’s not theft or anything, just lack of focus on us versus new business versus govt. crackdowns.

My worry is the post about reregistering?? I was certified up to level 2 or whatever. I could actually sell and transfer Bitcoin and my ID and Passport was verified. Think this applies still? What else is weird is I did this all on Dec 12, 2017 and called the next day from Texas. The pulled up my docs/email while I was on phone and approved. It would have taken longer if I did not call.

These sites just are not ready for mass Arbitrage trades, they are just trying to keep up with internal business. Coming from a 50 year old Finance guy that is what makes Arbitrage possible, it’s difficult.

fmakki commented 6 years ago

@0marcel0 I had the same problem with OKEx. After 5 days I managed to get a response from them on twitter, they took all the details of my issue and my missing ETH was successfully credited to my account. Don't panic, they're probably under pressure.

0marcel0 commented 6 years ago

@fmakki My worries are not about Okex and Huobi because my issues with them have been fixed. Okex credited my account after 5 days and Huobi after 15 days.

Like most of us here I'm still waiting for Bithumb to credit my account for more than 21 days, and so far no one seems to have solved the ETH deposit issue with bithumb.com. I hope it will happen later next week like @99electronic said.

When the banks introduce the system of verifying cryptocurrency investors' identification next Tuesday, current virtual accounts for virtual coins will be banned the same day, Kim Yong-beom, vice chairman of the Financial Services Commission (FSC), told reporters. Foreigners and underage investors will also be banned from opening cryptocurrency accounts in South Korea, officials said.

This is the situation as for now in korea. Everyone on thumb will have to close and reopen an account following the new policy

tib101 commented 6 years ago

is there anyone in Seoul ?

I have them back! 45 days later. Maybe they will fix yours as well. Thats a relieve!

Still no word on my 41.6 ETH sent from Bitstamp. But Hope has arrived

Bithumb activity. Any of you waiting on your ETHER from Bithumb see any activity like the following?

Two days ago I received a deposit of .0001 ETH to my Bithumb account. I looked at Etherscan.io and can see the transaction. The cost to send it was .86 and it’s Worth is .11. Scratching my head then “lightbulb” went off. Someone is testing the waters using as little ETH as possible, like I should have done. EtherScan.IO shows this transaction took place to 4 accounts besides mine.

Any thoughts? Please check your accounts at Bithumb for .0001 deposit.

p069128 commented 6 years ago

I will share the TXID, even though I don’t know if it’s 100% safe. Chime in if what I’m sharing is unsafe. Anyone tell who originated this transaction? Bithumb main office? 0x3141b3027b6dc00260fa4681ece2c97bf8756153468bcccb2479ee573376a733

p069128 commented 6 years ago

Sorry for the Spam, but I think Bithumb is about to help me out, or someone just stole my money.

Right after the .0001 deposit into my Bithumb ETH account a Withdrawal was made from my Bithumb account for around 42 ETH, the amount I am owed. Looks like it was sent to the Bithumb Main account. I think I’m getting close.

paintedrough commented 6 years ago

I send a small amount from Bitstamp to Liqui.io. Same issue but no disclaimers from Liqui side. Such a joke...

p069128 commented 6 years ago

Paintedrough, you got your ETH transfer to Bithumb completed. Can you tell me if you saw some activity in your ETH Bithumb account days prior? Someone just withdrew my ETH of my Bithumb account to an unknown account. Only ETH I had in Bithumb was in the internal transaction. I had 0 ETH according to my Bithumb account. On EtherScan it showed a huge withdrawal from my Bithumb account that I did not do and did not haves access to the ETH. I’m being verbose on purpose so future people can folllow.

Did Bithumb start conducting transactions on your Bithumb account days before you received the money? Thanks for all...

paintedrough commented 6 years ago

https://etherscan.io/address/0xB78bc302A5d6d3B700E3276dE0Ce67f6b4830F1A#internaltx

This is the wallet. Even though I received mine on Bithumb it seems like the ETH are still sitting at the wallet I sent them to. My history in Bithumb shows just the plain deposit without prior activities.

tib101 commented 6 years ago

@paintedrough. Are u sure u can actually see the ETH into your bithumb account? The etherscan.io still shows:

Value: 0 Ether ($0.00)

meaning transaction isnt completed

paintedrough commented 6 years ago

I have successfully withdrawn the funds from Bithumb.

p069128 commented 6 years ago

But you didn’t see any weird activity a couple days prior like my account. A .0001 deposit in Bithumb or the withdrawal of the internal contract amounts on the blockchain.

Weird, someone got those old internal contract amounts and removed the amounts on the blockchain. (My wallet on Etherscan). Both Etherscan and Bithumb show this .001 deposit, but only Etherscan shows the 42 ETH withdrawal to what looks like Bithumb corporate account.

paintedrough commented 6 years ago

No weird activity.

99electronic commented 6 years ago

I'm still waiting for mine ETH to be credited and there is no activity at all.

p069128 commented 6 years ago

Bithumb support is useless at this point. From what I gather my internal Ethereum contract was executed and then withdrawn to a huge account 3 days ago. Either a miner or Bithumb corporate. Someone sent a small amount of ETH to my wallet to help pay the Trx cost I imagine. Other people have commented from other exchanges this is how it happened. Now that the blockchain shows my wallet empty, but it was sent to a familiar wallet number that is seen in my transaction history (Bithumb Main Probably). Don’t know why paintedrough did not happen same way, maybe it was the amount or complexity of contract. This was actually two combined BitStamp transfers, one for 41.9 and another for 1.1. Might be why it’s different. In any case it would be nice to get a heads up before they started, but that would just take them even more time.

99electronic commented 6 years ago

I do not see anything on bithumb "deposit/withdraw history" but on wallet address which I have with bithumb I saw very next day that all my ETH were moved to different address. They moved my ETH from Bitstamp (which I do not have yet) and also the 15ETH I sent from different wallet and which were deposited correctly since it was not contract wallet I sent it from. So yes there was move but it was very next day. I'm waiting now almost two weeks.
