This plugin is broken - unknown encoding: desktop #54

Hi! I'm using QGIS 2.18 .17 under Linux mint Sarah. When I try to install the Profile plugin from Qgis plugin repository, I get this error message and the profile plugin is not installed:

"The plugin seems to be invalid or have unfulfilled dependencies. It has been installed, but can't be loaded. If you really need this plugin, you can contact its author or QGIS user group and try to solve the problem. If not, you can just unistall it. Here is the error message below: The plugin is broken. Python said: unknown encoding: desktop"

Anyone have a solution?

@SumoJoe66 Is there a longer error message? In a dialog window or in the log console (the bubble icon on the right of the status bar).

Just tested with Sylvia and can't reproduce it.
