add irregularities to circles without sondes #15

Closed Geet-George closed 3 years ago

The circles of P3 without any sonde launches have irregularities added as "TTFS circle without any sondes". This is for JOANNE to auto-detect which circles to pick for Level-4.

Additional question:

Should the half-circle have a different kind, since it doesn't follow the definition? Or should it be mentioned as an irregularity

I am wondering if TTFS is used correctly in this case. I've added #16 to clarify what we've discussed while creating the segment files. For TTFS, the idea is that the time to first sonde is not one minute (on purpose). It could be argued that having no sonde implies that the time until the first launch is definitely not one minute. On the other hand, one could argue that the time to first sonde is not defined at all and thus also nothing else . Probably there should be another irregularity tag which is for "no sonde (on purpose)". Regarding the filtering, I am wondering why you don't select the circles by the number of sondes in it? -- In the end, the irregularities are just an explanation about why things are how they are and the tags help in automatically checking that. But how things actually are should be recorded in the other metadata fields.

Regarding the half-circle, I am unsure. I think what we've talked at some point was that the kinds should roughly record what we meant to do and the irregularities record if that didn't fully work out for some reason. Thus a good answer might depend on what has been done during flight planning.

Yeah.. The TTFS tag is not exactly correct. I'll change that and the corresponding HALO tag to planned sondeless circle. Also about the filter... Yes, it makes more sense to rely on the count of sondes than to filter by an arbitrary string.

About the half-circle, I am also unsure of what the actual planning behind it was. So, for now, I will leave it as an irregularity (so, keeping the circle kind that it was originally assigned) and if there are other opinions from the P3 team, it can be changed to a different kind.

Looks fine to me now. But probably we should give @RobertPincus a chance of having a short look across it.
