Wetsnow layer integration #2415

Open bschumac opened 9 months ago

bschumac commented 9 months ago

EODC was asked to take care of an integration for a wetsnow map. We would like to deliver this map as COG to be integrated to the dashboard of GTIF.

  1. Is this generally possible?
  2. Which metadata requirements are there for the COG (metadata, CRS)?

Thanks!

Hello @bschumac, thank you for contacting us to ask about possibilities of delivery. Quickly replying to the questions, yes it is possible to integrate the data from a COG file, ideally as EPSG 3857 (Web Mercator) CRS. No additional metadata is really necessary for integration, but we recommend filling out a document with the characteristics of the data which is then added as information to the layer.

If the data is already available somewhere as a service, it is very possible we can also directly integrate it from there. In principle we have multiple other options, it would be great to have a little more information on the data, such as: is it only one product or a time series does it cover a country (e.g. Austria) is it an already rendered image (r,g,b bands) or one or more data bands (then we would probably need more information on how to render it)

Hello @santilland, together with the exposer (ENVEO) we have decided to add the following item to GTIF (from STAC): STAC Item

Please include it as a new item as an example of a wetsnow cover map. Additionally we will add a description here shortly which should be displayed alongside.

Hello @bschumac thank you for the link to the stac catalog, we will have a look at integrating it, also coordinating with the TO. As soon as there is more information we will let you know.

Hello @bschumac , also doing the tests with this dataset the CORS header ‘Access-Control-Allow-Origin’ missing, as commented in #2473

Product_data_descriptors_ENVEO_wetsnow.docx

Here is the data descriptor. CORS Headers are globally set - therefore everything should work.>

Please note that a comment on the layer should be provided that the may request to update this layer for GITF. For this the user needs to get in touch with Enveo: https://www.enveo.at/contact

Please also note that the enpoint has changed: https://services.eodc.eu/browser/#/v1/collections/SENTINEL1_ALPS_WETSNOW

Wet snow: • to be integrated in "energy transiton">> Hydropower - TBD in which form to be integrated • STAC and EODC ingested • Example for 2021 one point in time, covers Alps (IT< CH< DE)
