Setup gnostix account for social media tracking #36

Closed nikosd closed 11 years ago

nikosd commented 11 years ago

As @pagojo mentioned here https://github.com/euruko2013/committee/issues/28#issuecomment-9772795, gnostix has offered to give us a free account to track social media. What's needed in order to set it up?

As for the sponsorship issue, maybe we can have a special "technology partners" section that will list various companies that gave us such free tools. github and gnostix are the ones so far and maybe we can get more freebies this way that will make our lives easier...

pagojo commented 11 years ago

good idea!

Even a showcase section (e.g., Pamediakopes API integ)

pagojo commented 11 years ago

Chaps, when would be a good time for those interested to see a demo and configure our account?

Considering the fact that we will hopefully announce Matz, venue and web site splash page on Monday, ideally it would be good to have the social media monitored from that point onwards.

To start with and in order to be able to coordinate the meeting with Gnostix, who is interested in the demo and in helping out customise our account's params?

apantsiop commented 11 years ago

Do we have a clear picture about what to monitor?

There are two seperate things that we might wish to monitor (for sentiment analysis).

1) Euruko itself 2) The top sponsor's presence on Euruko

Unless we just monitor euruko and give the results to the top sponsor saying "this is the analysis, it was positive so it has a positive impact on you as well"

I think we should have a meeting with the Gnostix team (not just the techies) to explain to us what would be valuable in our case. I would monitor the 2 things you suggested plus more.

apantsiop commented 11 years ago

Can we do it on our next meeting?

+1 @apantsiop

nikosd commented 11 years ago

I disagree to engage all of us with this demo. 1 or 2 people would be enough. We can't be engaged in everything...

P.S.: I believe this should go hand in hand with the twitter/facebook/google+ accounts management.

Well it is an invitation to everyone :-)

If you don't wanna be involved it is ok, but whoever wants to can come over when we decide to do so is welcome.

apantsiop commented 11 years ago

I wanna be involved, but Euruko is starting to fill all my spare time. Can't we do this like 30 mins before/after our next meeting?

This week's meeting will be highly restricted and highly demanding : the main topic is the company's charter. So I believe there won't be time for any other activities and we can't accept others in this meeting. This is why I believe one or two of us can check it when these two have time (and not the 10 of us).

OK. You're right.

Pagojo, arrange a meeting. IF I can make it, then we are all right. If not then I will send you my inquiries for them.

pagojo commented 11 years ago

@nikosd I do agree this Wednesdy is not good for this demo to take place.

First i'd like to know who wants to be there. Then we can arrange it. After all a demo could be interesting to all.

Gnostix are based in Kifissia, so I could ask them to meet us after work since @apantsiop works in Nea Erithrea which is very close. However, if say someone from the other side of Athens wants to take part we'll have to settle for the centre. Another idea would be to ask them to come over at next week's Ruby Meetup at coLab before the presos start, but this would make it perhaps too early for some to make it on time.

So I'll ask again, who is interested in attending?

nikosd commented 11 years ago

Time permitting I am, but I won't know until some days before.

The ones that should attend the meeting are the ones who are going to monitor social media, attend the twitter and/or facebook account and probably be the "journalists" of the organising team. Are these roles already assigned?

apantsiop commented 11 years ago

I want to attend because I'm in charge of the sponsors pdf and the sentiment analysis could be part of a sponsorship package On Nov 22, 2012 11:25 PM, "Vassilis Vatikiotis" notifications@github.com wrote:

vvatikiotis commented 11 years ago

@apantsiop true, so in the meeting should be you and the one(s) filling the role I mentioned.

pagojo commented 11 years ago

I've been handling all Twitter related comms. However I see no harm for people attending this first demo. We may all wanna find about this before a duo handles this task. Actually I'd argue it is better if during the first contact/demo more people attend so that we share context for further discussions with the committee.

vvatikiotis commented 11 years ago

I wouldn't mind attending but it's crunch week so I'd suggest we move it just a bit later on.

pagojo commented 11 years ago

The Gnostix folk will most likely come over at my place on Sunday at 2pm to demo and setup the tool. They said it would be a shame to not have it ready for Monday's announcements (even if we don't optimise it much). I will confirm later today.

At the moment @vvatikiotis and most likely @apantsiop said they'll make it. We could videoconf others as well for the initial preso at least. If anyone else wants to come over for the initial demo/preso at least (and then leave if not interested to help us tune the tool) then please say so and come over :-)

vvatikiotis commented 11 years ago

@pagojo do we have a reply from gnostix and their suggestions as far as sponsorship handling is concerned? #28

pagojo commented 11 years ago

We have but @apantsiop will meet with Despoina from Gnostix again in order to discuss and crystalise what can/should be in the sponsor package. I'll configure the account with the new euruko credentials btw and see if I can attend that meeting. We'll update you tonight with @apantsiop I guess. My personal email is down due to Gradwell email server fail so i can't access the emails se sent us since yesterday :-(

apantsiop commented 11 years ago

Despina was kind enough to send me a price-list of Gnostix Services : https://github.com/downloads/euruko2013/committee/Gnostix-pricing.jpg

@apantsiop the link is broken. Care to upload it again?

nikosd commented 11 years ago

It's available on the downloads section in github.

apantsiop commented 11 years ago

Sorry, I pasted the url "after" the file was opened. I updated it on my previous post as well. And Nikos is right, you can download it directly from downloads.

And while we are at it : @nikosd , you were right, the prieclist does offer us a good insight about the service. I propose that we take the offered service and offer in return a place in the tech/communications sponsors with the following :

  1. company banner (with an one-line description) at the tech/comm. sponsors section
  2. small reference at the end of the packages section in the Sponsors PDF (i.e. "Social media analysis performance report supported by Gnostix")
  3. A few tweets about them (not as many as our prime sponsors though)

In other words they will be treated equally as our other communication/special/tech sponsors (like Colab, IF we accept their offer, etc)

What do you think?

fotos commented 11 years ago

@apantsiop thanks for updating the link. I'm ok with that. Personally, I think this is a great opportunity, for Gnostix, to promote their work to large corporations (our sponsors). It seems fair enough to offer the service, to us, for free in order to get exposure to a large crowd of potential customers.
