Sync/worms

This brings feature/worms up-to-date with main.

However, because the following notebooks didn't just run end-to-end without error before I merged main in, I didn't update them:

• workbooks/worm_practice.ipynb
• workbooks/worm_vs_plaquette.ipynb

This may not matter much, since the workbooks directory won't be merged into main anyway.

I also added example/worldline-algorithm-comparison.py and made minor updates to the sphinx docs.
