Comment here, and I'll add you as a collaborator (for gsoc mentors)

eigendude commented 4 years ago

Here!

VinArt commented 4 years ago

Hi, I would also like to contribute. I have some design docs, an overall view, a database schema and some software to go along.

evenstensberg commented 4 years ago

Could you add the org you were a mentor for as well, so we're sure that you are you?

eigendude commented 4 years ago

I mentored for Kodi Media Center, but joined the room because of my work at Aclima. Though I guess if you watch an air quality documentary on Kodi it counts as helping the environment.

eigendude commented 4 years ago

I should say that while I'm excited, I may have to recuse myself from this project if we determine that it's a conflict given my work in this space.

VinArt commented 4 years ago

I was a mentor for OpenRoberta Lab

Sent you an invite @eigendude . Question during the summit was: "How do we bootstrap"? I think that maybe we need to get in touch with @pjotrp, as he seems to be the right person to be steering the wheel?

evenstensberg commented 4 years ago

Another thing mentioned, we got the experience and skillsets to build this, dropping a line in the readme with what you can do would be great!

pjotrp commented 4 years ago

Hi y'all. Glad to be part of this. I think we need to be an independent opendata initiative. First step would be a mailing list and use that to streamline ideas. Anyone have an free software ML proposal? I used to run MLs, but that was years ago. Google groups is possible, but it tends to block my Email and is non-free.

evenstensberg commented 4 years ago

FYI moved this to org now, invited the people I know was apart of the session, and have created a slack org if it's easier to communicate there.

Will ping gsoc mailing list to inform

pjotrp commented 4 years ago

we can start with slack - please post it here too.

I've contacted some people from @openjs-foundation about helping to bootstrap this, with relation to organizational structure, if that's the way to go. Let me know if there's anything more needed. Mostly do front-end/tooling/infra, but got some folks that I can connect if we need more people on ML, or gov help, i.e tips on climate from nasa.

Would be nice to involve the guys from UN here too, so we can scope this down before we implement

@evenstensberg Hello, I am GSoC org admin from AOSSIE. During the summit, I have talked with some researchers about this issue. Most of the countries are collecting climate data without using it. We can build a global dataset by collecting those data. Count me in.
