APS2020 Intro R #2

Hi @sporangia and @kaitlinmgold ,

Just touching base on our conversation for a R intro for APS2020. I see info at the APS site on submitting a proposal. Do we want to create and APS2020 Intro R similar to this one? Or do we want a more general name so we can reuse it?

Hi Brian and Katie, you're welcome to name the workshop whatever you would like (maybe add @nikitagambhir to the conversation). In the past, I have used a unique name for the workshop so that when users go back to the content that they see the same thing as when they originally downloaded the workshop (sometimes content was personalized for the workshop). You have a green light from me to go ahead either way.

Good to hear @nikitagambhir will be a part of this too! My first response was to create something generalizable. But I think @sporangia has a good point that we can create something that users can come back to. I propose Sydney makes a new repo and names it something like "APS_IntroR_2020." That way when we make forks it will state that it's been forked from the everhartlab repo. Someone will have to take ownership of the master branch and that someone will need to be a member of the everhartlab group. This can be Sydney, or she can delegate. Once this repo is created we can begin to work on a proposal. Thanks!

Hi all, sorry for delayed reply to this thread. New to github and didn't know how to find this page. I am on board with the proposed plan. Who will be taking the lead to submit the workshop proposal? I don't mind doing it if no one else is interested, but would be grateful to have Sydney's prior proposal. IIRC it is a fairly short document, correct?

Hi everyone, This is a good plan. I am familiar with most of the forms that were filled out for this workshop in the past but I haven’t filled out the IIRC before. As I am graduating next year and not sure where will I be, Katie or Brian may take the lead. Thank you!
