NIck says:

Hey Marty, Just a quick note ‘cause I see you’re working on the site... If you could hold off on creating that big opening image for now - I dunno if you were planning to get to that today, but I wanted to talk to Geoff and Kyle about possibly rethinking that and I don’t want to waste your time on something that might not even go into the finished version…

ncalcott commented 10 years ago

Yeah, at this point I'm thinking screw it, but wanted to chat with Geoff and Kyle about it. I'm liking how the front end of the site functions now, though I'm considering losing the "Portfolios" title and definitely adding back in the titles underneath the thumbnails... I think those just got overlooked with the redesign...

halfempty commented 10 years ago

@ncalcott Cool, so should we go ahead and close this issue, and open a new one for the changes to the Portfolios section?

ncalcott commented 10 years ago

Well, I'd like to hear Geoff and Kyle's input on this, but I'm okay with changing those titles to display:block and the bigger title to display:hidden and marking this as solved. The big image was my idea to begin with and I'm less enthused about it as I see how well the intro to the site is working now.

gehalber commented 10 years ago

Tough call. We like both ways, but if you're having second thoughts about it, I think we should just enter into the site via the grid.

That said, I think the title Portfolios should still appear, but it should come in after scroll.

On page 3 of the indesign (calcott-design-04-pxgrotesk-bold.indd), there is a couple of tweaks. I'm showing the opening page as a grid view, without the gray navigation line and without the "Portfolio" title. Upon scroll, I think we should bring in the line and the word Portfolio.

In addition, notice that the news box is moved one grid over to the left.

ncalcott commented 10 years ago

Sounds good to me.

@gehalber

Removing the "Portfolios" title altogether is fairly easy. Having it not appear at first, but then appear on scroll is not as easy.

Similarly, removing the grey line altogether is easy. Having it not appear at first, but then appear on scroll would likely be quite time-consuming.

Tweaking the newsbox placement is easy, so is done.

gehalber commented 10 years ago

Ok. Forget that. Let's keep the line, and lose the word Portfolios.

@gehalber "Portfolios" title removed

ncalcott commented 10 years ago

Hey Marty - I'm still seeing it, actually, though the space for it has been removed... Also, we just need to re-add the titles under the thumbnail images in the portfolios section. Thanks!

ncalcott commented 10 years ago

Now I'm not seeing it anymore (dunno if you did something), but we still need the titles.

ncalcott commented 10 years ago

Got it, thanks!

@gehalber How would you like those titles to look? Here's what I've got:

Hi Marty,

They should be the same size as the titles in the Projects section.
