Option A has already been brought up and is on the table (so-to-speak)...just need the time to reconfig things.
Option B should be already present in the development build. On mine, using latest commit, I was able to pull down Thor:

Now there was an issue with the : in the directory and another directory issue I came across with this, but the latest commit (just done now) to development has these fixes in it.
How odd - it has to be a problem with my newznab server or something then as i get the following

As you can see it clearly finds the file...but just says no lol - ill play around with my settings etc - but when i copy and paste that api url into my browser for my newznab - it gets 0 results, when I remove the : it gets the results from newznab - but either way its gotta be an issue on my end or something.
Thanks for the response mate - also dude your logs say its 6:45am! get some sleep mate! :P
Well your newznab search results look like mine did initially - are you able to search successfully within your newznab ? If you don't have sphinx running, or not running properly (as mine was), you wouldn't get any search results when doing api searches, let alone from the within the site itself.
The experimental search probably doesn't have the exceptions for : built in, so I'll have to add those in, but that's an entirely different searching method than nzb.su/dognzb/newznabs :)
If im completely honest with you, I dont even have sphinx enabled/installed - all the other searches have been working fine without it - I was informed by the newznab devs that sphinx was just to ease speed of database searches, more of a benefit on a larger userbase - but not ideal for a single user install like my own.
I can find Thor God of Thunder fine within newznab and via api calls - but not Thor: God of Thunder - I guess sphinx how it is named/indexed for the API call - I am about to try to install sphinx now :D
Yeah that's really weird - I put on sphinx just because in all the docs I was reading, it never once said it was an optional requirement. Are you using the latest commit for Mylar? I'm pretty sure I didn't change anything with the newznab portions, but it was pretty early in the morning as you had pointed out so anything is possible.
Yeah, i am using the most recent development build commit - trying to get sphinx working at the moment however its being a bit of a bugger (i run newznab on my windows box lol) - i will report back if it fixes it for me :D
OK evilhero after several hours of pulling my hair out trying to get sphinx running just right on Windows 8 - I finally got it installed - and yes you are right, it seems that sphinx indexing makes it possible to search without some of the special characters - such as semi colon etc taken into account. So I am going to close this bug/issue now as its not an issue with mylar, more a requirement for mylar :D - tbh most people use sphinx, its just those of us running it on a windows box that went for a simple solution that wont have it lol.
I am not sure if this is a known issue, I couldnt see it on here - would it be possible to either
A) Rename comics manually - so that I can name it to something I know shows up on usenet
B) Remove/Parse out symbols such as : when doing an automated search?
Basically I have only got 2 comics in my lists that consisently fail to find any results - on both newznab, nzb.su and experimental. They are X-Men: Legacy (2013) Thor: God of Thunder (2013)
And as you can see the thing they have in common is the semi-colon, when I do a search using the api url that mylar uses for newznab, but I take out the semi colon - the results show up, so for me its about getting rid of that pesky semi-colon lol.
