"Perftools-Specific Install Notes" removed from INSTALL #475

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
The perftools-specific install notes were removed from INSTALL in r151. See:

http://code.google.com/p/gperftools/source/diff?path=/trunk/INSTALL&format=side&
r=151

Was this intentional? I don't see any other link to the specific libunwind
version that used to be referenced in the INSTALL file.

I'll have to take a closer look.

I am glad that you have pointed this out. It appears that in the past, patches
were accepted that contained modifications to files generated by the
autogen.sh. So when I made the configure.ac and Makefile.am changes for that
issue and ran autogen.sh, it clobbered a bunch of previous commits involving
the autogenerated files. I will need to get a hold of the previous maintainer
to understand why things were done this way. Thanks again for pointing this out.

issue-475: Re-applying changes made originally for r150 and r151

- Used aclocal, autoupdate, autoconf, and automake to correctly apply changes
made to Makefile.am. Detailed instructions on this procedure can be found here
http://inti.sourceforge.net/tutorial/libinti/autotoolsproject.html.
- Fixed a number of error/warning messages due to use of newer aclocal,
autoconf, and automake utilities.
- Directly and indirectly related to issue-385 and issue-480.
