realloc bloat #521

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Use realloc often to resize large allocations

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

same code with glibc malloc eats expected memory. with tcmalloc roughly 100x 
memory is consumed continuously.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Could you check with latest svn version plus the patch from issue 368? This 
issue
looks similar.
