The current README says that it's unknown whether it works in browsers, but the work was done some time ago and as far as I can tell it works perfectly.
I've included a ready-to-use complete HTML example there. I was looking at different JS Markdown parsers for use both in browsers and node.js, and a quick test is very useful for deciding which ones to try first.
