The Getting Started screen is a bit verbose and does not reflect the simplicity of the product.
An alternative to having the Getting Started screen as first screen, is to add instructions to the Connect Screen, including a link/button to the Getting Started screen with more info. This is like having the instructions be the actual UI (or simply like embedding instructions into the UI, but the former metaphor is quite intriguing).
The help panels on the Connect Screen can already be hidden by the user to not distract, and adding more content to them will probably not hurt the experience.
