NDT Java Applet Usability

Blanket report covering issue 12, issue 13, issue 14, issue 15, issue 32, and 
issue 33.  Synopsis:

The applet:

 - may not display properly (different platforms) 
 - May give the allusion of not loading/working properly
 - may not function properly (information is not accurate, button work when they shouldn't)

It seems reasonable to merge. My only complaint is the silly isNotEmpty 
function, but it's not big enough a complaint to not merge.
