Has X-Notifier-Reloaded been abandoned? #19

@ewwink You said you created X-Notifier-Reloaded because tobwithu abandoned X-notifier 3.5 branch.

So I guessed you planned to keep supporting X-Notifier-Reloaded. I created PRs so that X-Notifier-Reloaded could work on Firefox 57 but your Github activity has been 0 for more than a month. Firefox 57 is now in beta stage and X-Notifier-Reloaded does not work because my patches weren't merged.

Has X-Notifier-Reloaded been abandoned too?

Well, hotmail hasn't worked for weeks. I always get a mail regarding suspicious activity on outlook.com/hotmail/live mail when I boot my laptop. Out of two live.de, hotmail.de, hotmail.com and four yahoo.de accounts just two yahoo accounts are working. The Microsoft accounts just work a limited time after restarting Firefox. Just gmail is actually working fine, but I can't say if multiaccount issues occur there. gmail based accounts like england.edu have actually never worked.

I supplied the Hotmail+Beta script 4 weeks ago: http://xnotifier.tobwithu.com/dp/node/3624

And the pull request is still pending: https://github.com/ewwink/X-Notifier-Reloaded/pull/15

May I suggest to Loirooriol. Why don't you create a new fork? and pull into new master? I did create fork myself but I am NOT sure how it works and I am afraid to screw up. I must thank ewwink for his effort, I did check their work on GitHub, he did not actives for almost one month. I hope he doing well in his life... You (Loirooriol) can process create a new fork, because of Firefox 57 will release next month I believe. Again, thank you all of you work hard and make X-N Reloaded "alive."

Loirooriol commented 6 years ago

@CFBancroft I already forked X-Notifier-Reloaded and created pull requests. But only ewwink can merge them and release a new version. What I could do is distribute my own forked extension. The problem is that I think that currently Mozilla only signs legacy extensions when they are updates, not for new extensions. So if I start distributing my own fork, it will be unsigned. ewwink can sign X-Notifier-Reloaded, which is good.

CFBancroft commented 6 years ago

@Loirooriol Thank you for explaining; I hope that @ewwink will do for us. I just simple prayer that he is alright and act on it.

An unsigned version for Waterfox would be great!

koullis22 commented 6 years ago

anyone has any news from the owner?

richardnpaul commented 6 years ago

It looks like we have a little bit of movement but no new release yet.

CFBancroft commented 6 years ago

@richardnpaul, you are correct to the regard of "a little bit of movement!"

1) XN-reloaded 3.5.25 download from Github 2) Update/download Firefox ESR from https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/ 3) Update scripts from http://xnotifier.tobwithu.com/dp/node/3660

It works like charms!

That why ewwink decide not to release! He just simple to wait and see any new in Firefox 58? 59? or 60? before he able to release. or He just simple to wait until Firefox ESR's End of Life, before he able to release, who knows.

I must thank @Loirooriol for keep updates to make work with Firefox 57 and later. Also, I must thank @jeroen1956 for keep updates scrips! And Thanks to myself for keep update User Guide on X-Notifier! Ultmost Thanks to XN User to keep XN alive!

I forked X-notifier and called it Z-notifier. Latest version is compatible with Firefox 59. https://github.com/Loirooriol/Z-Notifier/
