Identifying the key of the song #15

Hi,

I was wondering if it was possible to identify the key of the song that's being played. Or even a group of songs.

I know virtual DJ does a pretty good job of identifying and updating the key info as the song is played or even imported, I believe. I think traktor and a few other programs can do it as well, but haven't verified it myself.

Is this something that can be added to Exaile, as well?

This is definitely outside the scope of exaile development, since we use GStreamer to deal with all of the audio processing. If someone wrote a gstreamer plugin/extension to do this sort of thing (for example, like the auto-bpm functionality), Exaile could utilize it.

It appears the soundtouch plugin can change the pitch, but not detect it.

Technically someone could write a plugin that integrates something like KeyFinder, either as a library or an external app.
