I did have a discussion with @CrispinF about whether we could remove the left nav pane to declutter. We'd probably want to think this through more.
At the very least it would be good to stop the grandchild menu items in the top menu from expanding to the right of the dropdown, instead of the left.
Below I've included some ideas, this would need to be worked through with dev to see what's possible and what would make the most sense with the content.
