This PR is a follow-up to some feedback from folks in Thebe about clarifying how "strict" we are with respect to these conventions. It softens some of our language to make sure we aren't scaring off people with the suggestions for things like branch names, rebasing, etc. It also makes some minor edits to the content here and there to improve things and make it a bit more clear.
