@chrisjsewell yay, thank you! Will you release a new version of sphinx-panels? The 0.5.2 does not allow to be installed alongside Sphinx==4. This was the main reason for this simple PR :blush:

I came here looking for this exact thing; thank you very much! I will be looking for the updated version soon. We are using Sphinx>=4.0.0, so this upgrade is essential if we want to keep using sphinx-panels, which we do. :D HOORAY!! You @hoefling are amazing! 🥳
