flakesl noted on the Staging discord that this games messages (combat results etc) are to fast at default. There is an in game tweak to the message speed but not all messages are covered by it so a combination of that and cycles is best. To fix:
set game cycles to 2000
in game press 'i" for install, then 't' for time interval and set to 7500
