Bigjim has provided this official terrain modification utility for integrating:

M1_Tank_Platoon_1989_Desert_Palette_pacth.zip

As this game was part of the Tandy megaticket (#5045) please integrate this after processing that ticket in case the run.bat or conf need an edit

ok, well, this was a PITA

See, it breaks our current menu system. Microprose games ask a billion questions on startup, and we had it running through tank.com which allowed command line options to define the video adapter, sound type, detail level, presence of joystick, etc...

But this patch routes everything through a system called dmenu and dmenu1.

So, to keep things automatic, I needed to go to autotype in staging.

but

the game has a tandy mode, and that was broken. So I added an exception bat and a new conf.

Now people can have tan ground..... so goofy
