It was reported a long time ago in Discord that Win3x games using the Director engine where having audio dropout issues. KRC investigated and came up with a solution to the issue for the games that had been raised and listed out all the director games that could probably benefit from investigation and changing in the same way.
The solution is to set the games to fix cycles 18000 and replacing connect.ini with this one: connect.zip
