Literally it won't work PRE-iOS 11 due to checkra1n not supporting it @kocoman1.

are there exploits available for earlier ios versions? I can see that checkra1n doesn't support it but maybe others can?

The reason checkra1n doesn't work on earlier versions of iOS is due to how the rootFS works as iOS 11+ it uses APFS instead of HFS, if you want HFS support, write it yourself then
