[x] [Achintya] Maybe move “Kinds of Users” section to after Fluid demos and before “Authoring with Fluid”? – AR: Have moved it to after Authoring. Will explain when we speak on Friday!
[ ] [Achintya] Tweaks to Motivating Problems
[x] Present the “pristine rainforest” bit as peeling back a layer? – AR: Tell me what you think of my edits.
[x] (Perhaps) add methane emissions/hydroelectric example alongside (as separate example on same slide)
[x] On same slide, perhaps mention that sftware can’t solve these problems (but can help present this kind of information in a revealing way) – AR: Added to end of section.
[ ] Sharper figure for the bogus data sources CSV – AR: We’ll need to host images elsewhere. Will return to this.
[ ] Replace PDF link by screenshot? – AR: Kept PDF. Will explain reason in person!
[x] “Reproducing IPCC reports with open data” overlaps both with earlier IPCC examples and earlier reproducibility example. Perhaps instead reframe it as an illustration of the “state of play” today, i.e. effort involved in finding/downloading data, writing your own R scripts, etc – we want to put this power in the hands of readers
[x] [Achintya] Target users
[x] Slide/diagram with different kinds of user and subcategories within those, e.g.:
[x] readers vs. authors
[x] scientists vs. policy makers vs. journalists vs. publishers
[x] specific scenarios we care about, e.g. persistent/shareable interactions for peer review
[x] How existing toolchains support these users today? – AR: This comes under discussion of authors and future authoring paradigms.
[ ] [Roly] Relate each demo to motivating problems established earlier
[ ] Discussion points for each demo – e.g. “transparent” brushing and linking, explaining algorithms)
[ ] Convolution example – show behaviour with different filter?
[ ] Contributing to Fluid development
Show how .js data binding works
Go through generalising ScatterPlot to BubbleChart?
[ ] Moving forward
[x] How can we help you tell a story with your data?
[ ] How can we make something you’ve already done more valuable?
[ ] Is there something you wanted to explore but didn’t?
@RaoOfPhysics To get the “standalone image URLs” running locally, do yarn publish-standalone and then yarn serve-app. (Actually you may need to run yarn build-app before yarn publish-standalone.)
