Most visualisation libraries/tools support line charts with multiple y-axes, for plotting “incommensurable” values which share a x-axis coordinate. For example, for a time series one might plot an absolute value on one y-axis (with appropriate unit of measure) and a dimensionless ratio compared to a baseline on another.
This might provide a useful visual way to explore/visualise provenance of individual points in a line chart. Obviously it generalises to multiple x-axes as well, but it seems reasonable to focus on y-axes initially since the x-axis is often used for pure indexical value.
